Renowned Indonesian artist Affandi's self-portrait was featured in 1 of Singapore's first solo exhibitions of a Southeast Asian artist in a museum setting. This exhibition was held at the then National Museum in 1975, on the occasion of Affandi receiving an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Singapore. This and another work, Fishing Boat of Semarang, were later donated by Affandi to the National Collection, forming the seeds of the Gallery's collection of Southeast Asian art. View this ar
