The New Zealand mother gave an emotional statement about her three children being found safe after first being taken by their fugitive father in December 2021
Police on Monday shot and killed a man they believe is a suspect who had evaded capture for more than 3 1/2 years after he disappeared into rural New Zealand with his three children.
Police did not launch a fresh search the second time he and his three children - Ember, Maverick, and Jayda, aged five, seven and eight, respectively, at the time - went missing. When he failed to appear at a court appearance on 12 January 2022, police issued a warrant for his arrest.
Three children in New Zealand were found safe after they were held captive in the wilderness by their father, Thomas Phillips, for four years.
