The midweek storm could bring "a quick-hitting bout of snow," an AccuWeather meteorologist said.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a major winter storm warning is in effect from Georgia through Virginia on Saturday, Jan. 31. Heavy snow and gusty winds are forecast from the southern Appalachians in Georgia through coastal regions of the Carolinas and southeastern Virginia.
The storm will break records, NWS said, “bringing coldest air in nearly a decade plus” to Florida.
